About Flame War
Flame War is a free online typing game where the enemies are bad-faith replies crawling down a comment thread. Each reply has a word on it. Type or tap the word to destroy it. Enter it correctly and quickly to chain a combo. Let one reach the bottom and you've been ratioed.
It auto-targets the closest reply as soon as you start typing or tapping, so there's no clicking posts. Waves get faster and the words get longer. It's a genuinely decent way to practice typing that happens to be wrapped in Comic Sans and blinking text, with an on-screen keyboard for phones.
How to Play Flame War
- Type on your keyboard or tap the on-screen keys. The game auto-targets the nearest reply whose word starts with what you entered.
- Finish the word to destroy the reply. Correct letters in a row build your combo multiplier.
- A typo breaks the combo. The reply keeps coming.
- Replies that reach the bottom of the thread cost you a life.
- Survive as many waves as you can. Your best score is saved in the browser.
Tips & Tricks
- Look ahead: start typing the lowest reply, not the newest one.
- Accuracy beats speed. A broken combo costs more than a slow word.
- Longer words are worth more points and are usually on the slowest replies.
